Experience vs. Encounter 3/11/2022
Are you seeking experiences to fix you momentarily or are you seeking encounters with the Lord that will mark you and change you forever?
We can either pursue experiences or we can pursue encounters. Experiences will momentarily fix our emotions but this is always temporal or fleeting. Encounters cause us to change from the inside out because when you have seen Jesus and tasted of Him at more than just an experiential level it causes us to realize we cannot stay the same. Encounters cause us to maintain in the times that follow because we can’t stay the same when we are consistently encountering the power and love of God in the person of Jesus. If we are experience based we will be emotionally based and all of that is shifting sand. You cannot build on a foundation of emotional experiences and expect the house to stand beyond today. Truth is the only sure foundation to build on. If we always believe our emotions and seek to assuage them by experiences (depending on another atmosphere or reality to reset us) than we become a slave to having to be in the right temperature and around the right people in order to cope. Ask the Lord for a lifestyle of encounters with Him. Real encounter with the Lord (holy of holies) will cause us to realize our own brokenness and do something about it (truly repent) so that we can be washed and transformed. Instead of constantly asking God what He has for you selfishly, begin learning more about who HE is and what He may be requiring of you in order that we can become more like Him.
Romans 12:2 - Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind (YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.) Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Acts 17:27 - God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us
